For the past twenty-eight years, John Souder of Auburn, Indiana has designed the poster for the ACD Festival. John’s artwork continues to dazzle and has been instrumental in helping the ACD Festival receive nationwide attention. Each year, the ACD Club decides which car will be highlighted. It is then in John’s hands to create a poster which will convey the beauty of that particular car along with promotion of the Festival.
For this year’s poster, John chose to do a 180 degree change from the 2007 poster. He wanted the poster to be very dramatic with black as the background and vibrant colors popping from it so there would be no relationship to the previous year’s poster. An image of a sconce from the exterior of the ACD Automobile Museum is also incorporated into the design. John claims this was an easy poster to design as he only had to complete three layouts. Easy or not; John’s talents are once again appreciated by all who marvel at his works of Art. ACD Festival posters, all designed by John Souder, are highly collectable and can be found worldwide gracing garages and classic car museums.
In 2006, the Festival published a large coffee-table style book with full-color prints of each of the posters from 1981-2006. The book is 11” x 14.5”. This is a must-have for all automotive and art enthusiasts. They also make wonderful gifts for your favorite car collector. If you have not been able to complete your poster collection or you don’t have space to display the full-size posters, consider purchasing the book and framing the smaller sized heavy-weight, high-gloss, full color renderings of the posters. Books sell for $35 each or $50 for a copy autographed by John Souder. The 1981-2006 posters were also produced in full-color on a deck of playing cards. The book and cards are available through the Festival office.
