The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival is teaming up with Joey Ortega and the Joey O Band to add a brand new event to the ACD Festival. GuitarFest is a brain child of Joey and Craig Bassett, board member of the ACD Festival.
“Guitar music is classic so where else should GuitarFest be held than as a part of the World’s Greatest Classic Car Show and Festival?” asked Bassett. To insure GuitarFest thetime and space it needs, the Festival has elected to host the event on Saturday, August 23, 2008. The Labor Day weekend is already jam packed with activities so having it the weekend before is a perfect fit.
Activities will begin around 5 p.m. with entertainment provided by The Joey O Band and Relative Insanity. However, that is not all! Students of the Guitar Infirmary will be playing in the breaks and between the bands sets. Imagine a young guitar student, just starting off and learning a few chords, having the opportunity to get on stage and “rock out” with their teacher and other students. “It provides the music students a chance to feel what it is that they are working toward, one little step at a time,” said Bassett, “and at the same time allow families the opportunity to come out and enjoy great music, family style! Joey has had an interest in presenting a show like this for several years and now, we have the time and the place to do it.”
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnic meals and non-alcoholic beverages.
Pets and alcohol are not permitted. A small fee will be charged for admission which will include the entire evening’s events.
